Short Trips travel planner

Client

Travel App

Year

2025

What if you could travel without the hassle of planning every little detail? What if your trip could adapt to your mood, interests, and needs on any given day?

This short-trip travel app explores that idea by creating a more flexible and personalised way to discover and plan spontaneous getaways. Instead of following a fixed itinerary, users can customise their experience based on what they feel like doing — whether that means exploring, relaxing, being active, or simply discovering something new.

The project was developed as part of a university course, where we explored the concept from initial research and ideation through to user flows and the final app experience.

THE PROBLEM

Do you panic while making Last Minute Spontaneous short Trips?

Living in Europe gives everyone an opportunity to travel,Discover and explore new locations while managing the daily hustle of life . Students especially have to manage budget ,time and energy while planning short trips without knowing how the trip might turn out to be and sometimes even spontaneous unplanned trips can turn into sour adventures resulting in wasted money and time

THE RESEARCH

Before we start creating we need to find out the reason for having this problem

Due to the main goals of the course research in this particular project was based on available evidence online and some user interviews hence the research was done from a context to understand the feasibility of the idea and the timeline of the project

User Journey Mapping

before we started working on the solution, we needed to understand the problem in depth so we started by tracking the general flow users take to plan short trips and tried to map out all the possible hurdles that they might face in the process along with what they might feel throughout their journey from starting off with researching about the destination to finalising

User Persona

We conducted a few interviews in and around our class to understand what fellow students generally do when they are planning to go for short trips and consolidated it into a user persona based on the common themes observed across multiple participants

Academic Research

As there was a need for empirical evidence to back our claims, we gathered articles with themes including data from travel and tourism industry that supported the idea and its possible feasibility.

THE SOLUTION

What about a Gamified Approach that simplifies it all while being fun for all

Based on the research conducted we wanted to start off by deconstructing the usual solutions and try to simplify every process just like how gamification is observed across different learning apps in other domains

Ideation

As the core theme was gamification we needed to be a lot more creative and based on the age group that we were aiming to make the product for we needed to make it more alluring and interesting enough for them to give it a try and hope that they like the execution of the idea

Start of Designing Screens

Once the flow was confirmed and the general style, was decided now was the time, to start work on the mid fidelity screens where we decide the type of components we want to use to and the general placement on the screens as the theme was gamification we had to simplify and make the flows shorter which was harder than it seemed

Final screens and Showcase (Los Gehtsssss!)

Well after mid fidelity comes the High-fidelity screens when we have a blueprint of how the end product should look like we start by designing the components in the style, colours and theme that we aimed for and start designing the main screens add fun animations and play around with colours and fonts to make it fun but professional and once these things are done we present it in the form of a design showcase
